Some of you may remember my proud announcement in March about the new record my site had broken: over 50.000 visitors in a month!
Now look what happened THIS month:
Yes, that’s right: more than 100.000 unique visitors! Crikey!!
Is that spectacular? Well, yes and no. The trouble is, HALF of that number comes directly from StumbleUpon. In the last two weeks, people have been feeding several Happysad cartoons into the StumbleUpon-machinerie, causing one SU-storm on top of each other. Yesterday I got over 20.000 hits in one day, today I will easily top that, and that’s really insane. I like a bit of attention as much as the next person, but this is just over the top.
So… I know many of you have discovered my site thanks to SU, I know a lot of people would LOVE to have that much referrals to their site, etc… but PLEASE, pretty please with sugar on top, do NOT add any more cartoons to StumbleUpon! I get enough traffic as it is, thank you.
I would rather have one interested visitor looking at 700 cartoons, than 700 visitors just passing by and eating my bandwidth. Speaking of which, two last remarks. One, I know my current Happysad gallery is crap, so I’m working on a new one, which will be slightly less crap, I hope. More news about that soon. Two, now would really be a good moment to remind everyone that that little orange Paypal Donate button in the upper right corner hasn’t been used in quite a while.

I stumbled here ages ago and ended up staying a loyal reader..
I came via Stumbleupon (oooh errr) and have ben a loyal reader for the last 12 months (ish, about)
I’m not saying I don’t appreciate those who’ve stumbled upon my site and decided to stick around. I love you guys :-). I’m just saying that if every single cartoon is going to be added to SU, it’s getting a bit too much. Currently the 10 most active incoming links (which is all WP Stats is showing me) are all SU referrals, to 10 different cartoons…
You are going to remake the archives now that I’ve finished reading them…
But you are right! The archive needs a really good clean up for friendliness sake.

I too discovered it through SU. However, I read one, loved it and then started from the beginning (you are so much more interesting than my Torts book). I’ve also clicked on more than a few of the google ads to try to do my part

Great comics. I have checked out your archive but went through them all and have been going through the blog to read all of the 700 comics that I hear about. I should’ve been in bed over an hour ago but stumbling across one of your comics I had to read more and am glad I found it.
I will definitely hit that paypal icon on the top right corner of the screen and contribute as I know even the cheap web hosting sites still cost something (especially with people using up the bandwidth)
