Tim, in all honesty, it’s a reference to (read: I stole it from) the phrase “Can’t sleep, clowns will eat me”, uttered by Bart Simpson in the Simpsons episode “Lisa’s first word”, which later on became an internet stock phrase. Alice Cooper wrote a song with that title
Even more kudos to you then, for fitting in a surreal, and culturally significant phrase! I’d come across some Simpson’s insprired phrases before, “Doh!”, “Cheese-eating surrender monkeys”, “Okily-Dokily”, and “I, for one, welcome our new … overlords”, but that’s a new one on me.
All that aside, it’s a great cartoon. You’ve gone to the top of my list of web cartoons to check every day, after only find you a couple of weeks ago. Great stuff, keep it up.
Yep, that pretty much sums it up lately :p
I think “Clown’s will eat me” has to win an award for the most original excuse, or certainly the most surreal!
